Could you please run me through the Kuuma sauna pontoon experience?Wondering what to expect from your Kuuma sauna Tasmania experience? Upon boarding (15 min prior to departure/session time), the Kuuma Skipper/Sauna Master will welcome you and explain the rules both onboard and in the sauna, making sure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. Indicative schedule for a 90 minutes sauna session: Cruise to a Quiet Nearby Bay (10-15 minutes): Enjoy a leisurely 15-20 minutes cruise to a serene nearby bay. During this time, you are free to explore the vessel, change if needed, or head straight into the sauna. At Anchor/mooring (60-70 minutes): After everything is secure, you are encouraged to take a leap and jump into the cold water (Average: 9º in Winter / 17º in Summer). If the jump feels a bit too intense, we also offer a more playful alternative: the trusty Kuuma shower bucket. Simply pull the cord gently and let the cold water cascade over you. While it may not be as dramatic as the jump, it is still a refreshing and fun way to cool down. Feel free to repeat this ritual as many times as you like until the gate is closed, which signals the return to the marina. Return Cruise (10-15 minutes): During the cruise back, you are welcome to continue the sauna ritual and use the shower bucket for cooling. Alternatively, you are welcome to put on warm comfy clothes and soak in the scenic views on the roof top terrace while cruising back to the initial pick up location. Throughout your experience, the Skipper/Sauna Master will be available to assist you, answer any questions, and ensure that your session is both memorable and worry-free.

Where can I leave my belongings? For your convenience and due to limited storage space onboard, we recommand bringing only essential items in a closable bag. You can then leave your bag on the bench seat or hang it on a robe hook located next to the staircase. We kindly ask you to remove any glasses or hanging jewellery before entering the sauna to prevent damage or discomfort due to high temperatures experienced in the sauna.
-
Are there any facilities on board? We do provide facilities on board. • Change room - A lockable changing room is available on board if you have not already changed into your swimwear. Please refrain from leaving your belongings in this area. • Marine toilet - A lockable marine toilet is also available for your convenience. Please only flush toilet paper down the toilet. A bin is located beside the toilet for any other waste.

How hot will the sauna be?Kuuma standard operating sauna temperature is between 80-90 degrees Celsius (176-194 degrees Fahrenheit), which we consider optimal for a traditional sauna experience. However, we understand that individual preferences vary, and our sauna master is more than happy to accommodate your desired temperature adjustments. Whether you prefer it slightly cooler or hotter, just let us know, and we'll make the necessary adjustments to ensure your comfort. For private sessions, especially those involving children, we typically maintain a slightly lower temperature range of 60-70 degrees Celsius (140-158 degrees Fahrenheit) to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. It's important to note that our sauna is wood-fired, meaning that adjusting the temperature may require some time as the heat gradually builds up.
-
How long should I stay in the sauna? To maximise your comfort and safety during your sauna session, we recommend a structured approach. We suggest three rounds of sauna use, with durations of 5, 10, and 15 minutes, respectively, and advise not exceeding 20 minutes per round (suggested time). This carefully curated schedule ensures an optimal and enjoyable sauna experience while minimising the risk of dehydration or other heat related discomfort. However, please remember that this is just a guideline—always listen to your body and adjust as needed. Our priority is your well-being, and to assist you throughout your session, the skipper/sauna master will be on board. Feel free to ask any questions or express concerns at any point during your experience.

I have booked a Private Wood-Fired Sauna Session/Charter, can I bring some food and drinks? We welcome you to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages aboard. If you are interested in grazing platters, we recommend checking out some delightful options from The Grazing Table (use code KUUMA10 for a 10% discount on their website) or Hill Street Grocer. For safety reasons, please note that glassware is not permitted, and we kindly ask that you take your rubbish with you at the end of your experience.

What is the minimum age to experience KUUMA sauna pontoon boat?To help us provide a relaxing and rejuvenating experience for all guests, children aged 10 to 17 years are welcomed but may only attend private sauna sessions and are not permitted in communal sauna sessions. We regret that children aged of 9 and younger are not permitted to use the sauna under our insurance policy. Children aged 10 to 17 years old need to be accompanied by an adult at all times onboard Kuuma and in our sauna . Each child counts as one person and the maximum allowed ratio is 1 adult for every 3 children. For more information please read our Terms & Conditions as well as the Children in Sauna Policy
-
What should I do if I have a child under 10 and want to book a private sauna session or charter? As stated in our terms and conditions, we are unable to have children under 10 aboard at any time. This is strictly enforced as it is a risk requirement of our insurance with regards to having minors on our vessel on open waters. Please make alternative arrangements for any children in your care for your private sauna session or charter.

What is the difference between a communal and a private wood-fired sauna session?A communal sauna session is a shared experience where you will join other members of the public in the sauna. It is a social and energising way to enjoy the sauna, with a maximum capacity of 8 people. A private sauna session, on the other hand, is exclusively reserved for you and your group. You will have the sauna entirely to yourselves, allowing for a more intimate and personalised experience, also with a maximum capacity of 8 people. The key difference lies in whether you prefer to share the experience with others or enjoy it privately with your chosen group.
